Are there any hardy fish that could live in a saltwater pond in GA? I assume I'd need a heater for winter, and the pond would be roughly 55g +

I really hate koi and my wife wants a pond and I miss the saltwater hobby a great deal so I thought this would be a good balance. Anyone tried it,and stories, or any links that my quick search didn't reveal?

I know temps would get cold in winter, even with a heater, the water will still be cold so I'm prepared to loose this battle, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Thank you for all your help and guidance.

Rickey, I'm sure there may be some marine fish that could withstand the winter temps here with the added heating. I think the bigger issue would be what to do with them in the summer when the pond water would get way to hot. You know what Georgia summers are like. :)

Check this out (and associated pages).

Ya the biggest problem will be the summer heat, my neighborhood pool gets up to 82 and its olympic size. I imagine that a small pond/large puddle like that would be well in to the 90's or 100's

aye, well the idea of adding a chiller goes against my budget (and power bill) so I suppose I'll scratch the idea. darn koi!

if you had a large enough "sump" in a basement you could regulate temp naturally. It does seem like a horrible idea, and I like it, but I'm no expert. Imagion having a reef in your back yard though? Most of the things in the hobby today would have been horrible ideas not too long ago, perhaps you're just ahead of your time.

We've done a saltwater pond before. But the customer put an additional room onto her house for it. She's got a 1500g system that includes a 200g reef tank built into a wall, and the pond in its own room. The pond itself is about 685 gallons. Both on a common sump with large refugium in the basement (pond and reef are on the main floor.)

I don't think outdoors would be a good idea.
