So where are you guys getting sand for your DSB systems in north atlanta. Home Depot just has quikrete silicon garbage. Or what brand names do you guys use?

I have enough sand for a 2'x2'x6"deep sand bed. It would need to be thoroughly risnsed as I used it for my DSB for the last 8 months. I was going to fill up 5g salt buckets and store it but let me know if you're interested.

I'm just trying the 5g bucket style so I wouldn't need all of it. If I brought you an empty bucket to the meeting Tuesday could we do a swap empty bucket for full bucket? That'd be super.

Everybody has their preference, but I'm partial to Caribsea Reeflor Special Grade. Just the right grain size IMO.

Sand isn't too expensive, and you (most likely) only have to buy it once... I'd personally avoid trying to save a buck using something that isn't known to be "reef correct".

Seaflor Special Grade is not fine enough for a proper DSB. It is great sand for most applications but not for a DSB.

Do a Google search for Dr. Shimek DSB and read his article, it will help a lot.

You're right... I was so focused on "sand" that I forgot the discussion was specifically for a DSB. Oops!
