I am thinking of adding a small Sargassum trigger to my reef tank.
I wanted to see other peoples experiences?
I have read reef safe and then Not reef safe. I have Zoas. SPS, LPS, and
I have a goldstripe Maroon clown pair a Christmas Wrasse and a Cleaner Shrimp along with a Ultra Max. Clam and misc. hermits and snails.
I know a crab or snail here or there is no problem but I don't want it to demolish the tank?
Just checking to see if I should try a blue throat instead but I really like the sargassum
Thanks

I followed a guy on RC who put one in his DD-200. It was the coolest fish I'd ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous. It was a model citizen for a couple years. I haven't been on RC in a long time though.

He had a mixed reef.

I know that won't add to your knowledge, but I'll give you a +1 for it being a gorgeous fish.

I have one. Got him a few months ago. One of my favorite fish. Very entertaining! Never had a problem with picking on corals.
I do think he has a little escargot from time to time. Although I have never seen him eating them.

Also in hiding is my cleaner shrimp.
He is still there...but he dont come out any more ;).
Shocker!

Great fish!

I have a Niger and a redtail with a soon to be crosshatch I hope

I love mine and they are very good fish. No corals bothered or snails for me. I do not have shrimp so I don't know how they would be

Sargassums and Bluethroats are in the same genus Xanthichthus</em>, and are behaviorally identical. They are midwater planktivores, and would be no more like to go after substrate dwelling inverts than any other midwater planktivore (anthias, basslets, etc).

I really like the sargassum so looks like were going to give him (Them) a try
Thanks for all your input.
Thats why I like this club good people and good info.
