Hi I’m new to the hobby ish. Tried with my dad for a while back in late 90’s with a 55 gallon but we never found success. seems a lot more information out there nowadays so when I saw the Eshops 3.8 on sale at BRS for Labor Day I went for it!

Thought I would take it easy but I rapidly dove of the newbie deep in and now.

Anyway thought I’d say hello before inevitably I have some questions lol.

Hey. How old is that tank? I see you have started with some corals and the sand looks really fresh.
I don’t want to discourage you or get discouraged if you start having losses. I would suggest to take it slow.

Thanks man. You are probably right but it seems okay from nitrogen cycle I think.

I started fish less cycle with ammonia dosing the first week in September. Testing twice daily I was shocked just how well the bio and live sand made a difference moving through first two stage. So I got the two clowns at ~7th day mark and stopped dosing ammonia (at that point the tank was clearing up whatever I dosed both ammonia and nitrites. For nitrates I’m now doing weekly water changes. I guess I’m under impression nitrates are not super impactful- under 10 okay? Amm and nitrite has not budged over zero for three week.

I did actually just start getting diatom/ brown yesterday but wiped glass for pictures (would love snail recommendations).

half the coral in pics are from 9 days ago and the two acans (one out of picture) were my stupidity yesterday and if I’m nervous ab anything it’s them. Hope they turn into the showcase of aquarium some day.
