Well this weekend I decided I would go ahead and set-Up a system to start curing liverock in. Well I dug out my old 55 Gallon tank and stand from the attic and even found my old Seaclone skimmer (100 I think), Cascade Filter, and some misc Powerheads. I figured this would all work quite well for a curing tank.

The Cascade Filter is working great, the Powerheads are doing there thing, but i just can't get the Skimmer to do it's thing. It's not broken, I just can't get the Air mix right to great any foam, anyone have any ideas?

Are you getting air in at all?!?

You could try hooking up an air pump to it.. I used to do that with my very old seaclone skimmer to increase the air intake. Other then that, it sounds like the pump.

Well there's plenty of air going in, I actually think theres to much air going in because there's hardly any water flow coming out when I open the airline, then when I close it, the flow is great with no air, it's like there's no in between. When you open the air line, there is a ton of action in the Chamber, but nothing makes it to the cup. Coud it be that the tank just has nothing in it to skimm yet being that I just mixed the water and salt yesterday? Or could it be going through a Break in Period again?

Ya you could need to break it in but do you have the valve that controles the air or are you trying to do it "all open or all closed"?

I meant to mention that, I don't have the Valve, but was trying to use a make shift Valve, maybe I need to do it right and try to find this valve.

Ya I would try to find the valve... I know there is a DIY way to do it.. but I will let one of the DIY people tell you how to build it. ;)

:wow2: :wow2: I just got off the Phone with Aquarium Systems (The Manufacturer of the Seaclone) It's been years since I've had that type of Customer Service!

Answered the phone first thing, Transfered to Parts Department w/ absolutely no hold time, told them what I was missing, All in All Parts will be shipped today FREE of Charge! Took me less than 5 minutes on the phone.:wow2: :wow2:

I visited a couple people's tanks when I lived in the area and some had seaclones on smaller tanks and curing tanks. They just wont admit it. =)
