Seachem Fuel- Is it causing my algae outbreak?

Is there any link to Fuel causing an algae out break? I had a tank completely baron of fish and did weekly 15% water changes. I would add a small pinch of cyclopeze twice a week for the corals. On someones recommendation, I started adding Fuel to aid the growth and appearance of my corals. Out of nowhere I was having serious brown algae/slime outbreaks on the glass, substrate, and rocks in the tank.
I use a RODI filter. Test my water twice weekly and the results for NO3 and PO4 are always zero. My lighting is AI SOL Blues. My tank is 120g and my sump is 120g. Half the sump is a refugium with chaeto and 6" DSB. I have a SRO3000int skimmer.

I'm curious if Seachem can possibly explain my problem since it's the only new variable in my tank.

I got some of this stuff from Chris at Einsteins. He told me that I shouldn't follow the directions at first because my corals would not be used to taking in the supplements and because of that I would have an algae bloom. For my 29 he told me to add just 1 cc every week for a couple months and then I could go with the recommended amount. Maybe you should call him and talk to him about that product.

We use it in the shop, at home, and in a bunch of tanks we maintain. Never had that issue.

I'm sure Seachem will address this question but in all the tanks we use it in that hasn't happened.

I dump in the recommended dosage at irregular intervals. I've never had that issue either.

In my 1 month experience I have notice some increase in algae the first week. I do believe its just cause you are feeding what was already in the tank. After the first week my cuc got all the exposed algae and have not seen increase since

How old is the tank? Whats your light cycle? How old are your bulbs?How much are you feeding of food?What is your clean up crew?

Thanks for the post and we are sorry to hear about your algae issue. Since fuel does contain organics, there is potential for it to cause some algae growth in certain situations. Exactly how much of the fuel were you adding to your tank and how often? It seems that there are just too many organics in your system, causing an algae bloom with the recommend dose of fuel. You may want to cut the dose in half and only treat your tank with it once or twice a week. This will cut back on the additional organics, but will also provide your corals with the nutrients they need.

I'm hoping they will give some insight on the issue. I keep a ledger off all things done to the tank. Every WC, test, fish/coral added. APEX keeps track of temp, PH, and ORP.
ORP drops 100 points each time Fuel is added. Don't know what that means. Just an observation.

I know there were many other people reporting the same problem but their posts have been deleted.

While posting this I see Seachem left a response. I will follow their advise and monitor from there.
