I had been using TMPR for a few years with good results, but I decided to switch after a few reviews from some trusted hobbyist (Stephen Pro for one) were not that favorable. After researching salt reviews on & off for about 6 months, I decided to switch to Sea-chem Reef Salt.

Although I do my own testing, I decided to check out a subscription with AWT after the ALK fiasco with Habib and Salifert roughly 9 months ago. At the same time I was also having tank issues, so I couldn't figure out the cause as my testing results were so inaccurate.

I know there are many bad reviews on RC about AWT, but the results that I needed were accurate enough. Through the last 9 months they seemed to have "fixed" most (if not all) of their issues. But again, I wasn't using them to see if my potassium was correct or not (they fixed that, too however).

At this point, through trial & error, I have found that these kits serve me well.

ALK: API
Calcium: Elos
Mag: Salifert or Elos
Nitrates: Salifert
Phosphates: DD Merck

Now for this test. I mixed 2 gallons of water and measured enough salt to insure 35 parts on a refractometer that was calibrated to 35 parts with a pinpoint calibration fluid.

The mix was aerated for 2 days, then I sent it off to get tested. This is not a scientific, multi sampled study. This was for my own personal use that I figured I would share with you.

Nice thanks for sharing.

I am suppose to get some D&D salt later this week. I can run some general test. If you would be interested I will give you some to try and send off. I can give a few buck to help out as well.

I'm glad you are on top of this. I have not been using TM too long, but I have begun using Seachem RS based on several of your posts, and based on the more preferable price. THanks for sharing.

I've got about 8 more Kent buckets to go through before switching brands, so for now, I'm interested in Kent. I'd be interested in paying for a test as well. For my own reference, I've started keeping track of Ca, Alk, and Mg levels of fresh batches. I've only had two WC's since you started this thread, so I'll wait and post results after I have a better average.

thats why seachem is the bestest salt in the world

If anybody is interested, AWT will do a one time test for you. I think they might offer ARC disounts? not sure though.
