I have a friend who has a Sedra 3500 skimmer pump that does not start up on its own. It appears that the Needle Wheel Impeller has a worn spot. I would like to see if it is possible to either get a Needle Wheel for the 3500 locally or either replace the Sedra 3500 pump locally . . . This does an awesome job when it is working correctly. Also, I would consider an alternate pump such as a Mag 3 if it would have a needle wheel impeller (unsure if this exists). Does anyone have either of these for sale?

Thanks,
Shane

The Sedra pumps use an iron shaving core on the impeller. If I had to guess, the impeller is worn and the main shaft part is distended and abrading the inside of the pump such as happened to me http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2625">here</a>.

You can mail order the part From [IMG]http://www.customaquatic.com/customaquatic/index.asp">Custom Aquatic</a>. Type "sedra" into their search field and you'll see the needle wheel impellers. It's about $33.

I'm not sure if anyone's going to carry the part locally.
