I got my daugter a 14g BC for her birthday (thanks to the generosity of stoney1118 who gave the tank, and LilRobb who gave her some dry rock for a gift). It is completely bare... no top, pump, media holders etc.

I intend to do a small LED light (it will be fish only). I'm looking for advice from nano owners about how to set up the chambers. The overflow is on the left, the middle two chambers have had the divider trimmed lower, so they are effectively one chamber. The right/pump chamber is untouched.

I plan to use an MaxiJet return pump; it's just going to require some experimentation to adapt the pump outlet to the through-wall fitting in the tank.

I will probably use a HOB skimmer, but MAY buy one of the upgrade ones that fits the cube... I think Sapphire is one.

I'm mostly trying to figure out the best way to run media in the back. It seems like media bags laying on eggcrate "shelves" dividing the different bags would work.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
And yes, once I get started (probably four or five days) there will be a six year old's build thread! She wants to join the club and doesn't understand that she's not old enough... I may make her a name badge for the meetings this summer. :D

Here's something to run media in the back

Barry, I will PM your regarding Sapphire skimmers in the morning. In regards to the chambers, I have nothing in the back of my chambers except the return pump and a bag of Purigen.

Thanks. Are you using a MJ as a return? At a quick glance it looked like it would take some work to make the outlet of the pump a good fit.

I have a BioCube 29 and am still using the stock pump but it seems that almost everybody on Nano-Reef uses the MJ900 for return on a BC14. I believe the 900 is 230 GPH so that is a good turn over ratio.
