Ok. I am looking at getting a bigger skimmed, but I want to make sure I get an appropriate one. I will have a 180dt, 60g frag, 75g fuge, 100g sump (not all the way full)all connected as one system. I will have sps, lps, etc and a bunch of fish. Do I size my skimmed by just the dt where the fish are (most of bio load) or include anything water?
Right now I have an octo x 200 rated for 225 med bio load
Thinking about getting a
Sro 3000int
sro. 5000 int
Asm g4xx
ari bubble master 300. What does everyone think? Thanks!
Mike

I don't really know how you could calculate that, but what I do know is that I love my SRO 2000 skimmer! So the bigger ones should be great too!

Might I suggest...

Of course I dont know for sure but I imagine the ratings on most skimmers are probably exaggerated a bit. You know...for marketing.
But yes, you want to base your purchase on your total water volume.

I have a 175 Dt and a total water volume of just under 300 gallons.
I run an old ASM G5 skimmer with dual sedra 9000's.
Rated for 700 gallons!

Guess Im an over acheiver :D
