Sizing Battery Backup system

As I'm moving to the hurricane zone in south florida...how do you size battery backup systems (like APC units) and which components would you hook up to it?
Which units would you recommend (I don't want the beeping alert)?

If I'm planning on a MP10 for a 60 cube, would you just do the Vortech battery backup instead?

I've got a APC 1500 running just one Koralina 2 and we've had the power out for about four hours and it kept on running, but I haven't tested it to see how long it will run. It's better than nothing though.

I think an snows/ice storm, hurricane, tornado with power out for 1-3 days is a once in 20 years or so event in Atlanta, so it seems like if you are going to plan for an outage, that's what you should go for.
