skimmer help

I have a asm g2 skimmer and all of a sudden it is foaming like crazy and quickly filling up the collection chamber with foam and water. Help!

Did you recently tinker with it? I know a lot of time if I used a lot of aquabond, it would overflow.

If not, maybe just need an adjustment.

Water level change? additives? anything different..?

no i have not chaqnged anything gonna clean the air intake and see if it helps

I had one once that got a hunk of skimmate into the exit hole (where water leaves the body and goes into the outflow pipe). Wouldn't hurt to make sure that's free.

When you checked the air passage, did you by chance check the needle wheel impeller? If material gets stuck to the impeller, it can become a better propeller and pump more water. (hows that for a mouthful???)

Also, did the water level in the sump where your skimmer sits change?

I agree with checking the impeller. I soaked my impeller in some vinegar to get some calcium build up off on Tuesday. I came home from work Wednesday and it was overflowing the collection cup. I took it apart again and some calcium that i missed had come loose and was bouncing around the impeller and man was it producing some foam. I cleaned it out and it's back to normal output now which isn't bad but i've never seen it put out that much foam. I'm researching a fishing line or mesh mod for it now. I was tempted to put the calcium pieces back in, that was nice foam output.
