Skimmer issues 1000-hob

I have been using the skimmer for close to a year now with no issues. Love it does a great job pulling skim.

But a few days ago it starting getting odd. The water line in the skimmer is going up almost to the point where it will over flow. I have checked the drain everything looks good no blockage. It looks like it's still making the same amount of bubbles. I just can't figure out why the rise in water level.

Anyone have and ideas?

Check the full air intake for buildup, especially at the venturi. It doesn't take much of a reduction of air to increase the water level.

Got ya! I will pull it apart tonight!

So it turns out the spong in the return side was full of algae. There we a few strings of short hair on it but it was full of slime that clogged it up. Took it out and it returned to normal. Working on getting it clean so I can put it back in.

Anyone know what the point in it is?
