I do a 15 gallon PWC from my 24g sump(has about 18g volume once return is turned off) weekly. However, everytime I do this I either have to let my skimmer run wild for a good 12 hours or so, or just leave it off till it works right again. Can set eveything back to minimum settings and it'll still overflow wildly overnight no matter what. Is this just the way it is or is there some tricks to keeping everything a little more settled to prevent skimmer issues. Total volume is about 130g and I always let it run skimmerless a while after the change to dilute any new mix water within the system....but it doesn't help. Maybe try doing the PWC from the display itself???

No dosing in the PWC. I do dose 2-part daily into the return, but it never affects my skimmer. Only PWC's screw with it. The return side of my sump isn't large enough to pull 15 gallons from....it takes about the whole sump volume to pull my 15g out.

Can you pull water out and add water at the same time? If so, try draining from the drain side of the sump and add to the return side. This will give you the best odds of pulling dirty water and mixing your new water with the existing water.
It's RO/DI filtered water. I drain my 15 gallons from the sump and then fill 15 back into the sump (skimmer and return off). Then I turn the return back on and let it go for an hour or so before attempting to turn the skimmer back on. I have over 600gph through my sump so no reason that the 15 gallons of new batch shouldn't be fully diluted within my system volume of 130 gallons in an hour.

You can also try what I do. I pump my new saltwater into the return side of the sump and I drain from the DT, but what I do is I keep my new saltwater 1 to 2 degree lower then the DT that way the cooler water sinks and the old water is at the top. Just when you drain from the DT keep your syphon close to the top.
