Recently purchased a reef octopus octx-160 and it didn't have original pump, instead it had a hy2000 bubble blaster with it. Whoever owned it before used glue to attach the pump that didn't did not fit to the skimmer. I found that that coralvue sells an adapter for this, however it is $30 plus shipping. No thanks!
I proceeded to use some 1 inch sch80 tubing to make my own adapter, along with a decent amount of sanding to make a 1inch tubing to make it fit. $5 worth of parts was definitely an improvement.

Now, I have to figure out what to do with this skimmer... It will be way to much for a 65 gallon..

I say use it on your 65. Oversized skimmer is not a bad thing.

Plus if you decide to upgrade you will have a good skimmer.

i say use it on the 65g thats not oversized at all.i have a sro5000int on a 125g

And you can actully pull decent skimmate? I had an xp2000int on my 75 and had to turn it up pretty high to get it to pull stuff out of the water.
