Thinking of changing and upgrading my skimmer so I'm going to ask a loaded question.
What do you recommend, I have a 100 gal tank with 25 gal refug/sump

We would need to know price range and what you plan to keep.

I have a really good a skimmer for sale that would allow you to keep anything you desire in that size setup. Of course I am a little biased.

right now I'm running soft coral reef and fish, recordia, duncans and zoa's along with half dozen fish - tangs, wrasse and true perculas. Am in the rebuild stage since my tank crashed due to a stray voltage issue from an ultra violet filter that shorted. Price range - Hey as cheap as I can go for a decent skimmer.

ASM fan here as well.

I have a G-3 running my 75/40 breeder sump. Its way over kill. G-2 or G-3 would be good skimmers for you.

Set...and forget skimmers.

Looking for a G-4 or G-5 for my next build.

I have also heard a lot of good things about Octopus and MSX.

Good luck!

Just get a Big Ole skimmer like this one. That way you'll have enough skimmer for a few more Fish

But bang for buck new skimmer Octopus Extreme / MSX Skimmer Series you be hard pressed to find a better performing skimmer for the money.

it will be going in the sump, someone offered me a seaclone 100 but I don't know a thing about it and if there offering it for free I have to wonder.

Listen I have an Older model octopus that I ran on my 125 with a piece of crap pump.

The skimmer was damaged and repaired so it has to be run in sump. It doesn't leak but I didn't ever want to risk it.

Now that I have been in the hobby awhile I can tell you that even with the crap pump it skimmed like crazy.

If your interested in it I'll sell it to you for 20 bucks it's rated for 110+ gallons.

If it doesn't skim like I say it does I'll give you the 20 bucks back.

Can't beat that deal go with seedless reefers offer.

Just so you know ASM are good skimmers but are knock offs of the skimmer I am selling.

Loren your making an offer that is hard to refuse, I was just checking out your euro skimmer too. What was the damage to the old ocotopus your offering. I have looked at those online and they look like a good skimmer.

No worries hook the man up. That is very nice of you to help him out like that.

I would go with that one!

The skimmer fell on it's side and cracked the output tube off.

It was re-affixed and then sealed with a Goop product called Plumbers Goop.

The repair is strong and I used it for over a year in my sump.

Pretty? naw.

Skim some fish crap? You betcha.

I'm a big fan of recirculating skimers. I like any design that doesn't change skimming characteristics with water levels. Most venturi and needle wheel in-sump designs will fluctuate skimming levels with the water level they sit in. Recirculating skimmers don't do that because the needle wheel or venturi is on the recirculating loop. As long as your feed pump doesn't start cavitating, your skimmer will stay at the same setting/efficiency.

Actually here is the post from when I bought it.

I'm wrong it is a Octopus NW200 but the pump is toast.

I have to agree with this. I just got the octopus reccirculating and love it.

Actually LOL it is NOT a NW 200 the picture and correct model are listed further down the page.
