Smoke and sparks

So I woke up this morning and could smell smoke from under my tank.
A week ago I purchased a filter sock for my skimmer outlet to cut back on the fine bubbles in the tank. Although it worked well and the tank looked clearer than ever, it took no time at all to clog up and cause water to go over the sump right into a power strip.Its my fault for not hanging the power strip up higher but its something I never thought about. Im sure other people have there strips under the tank as well so learn from my mistake. I could of lost everything if I was not home. So note to self everybody, get the power strips off the ground.

Filter socks are so awesome, but as dawgdude said, they will overflow, especially on a new tank. When I first put mine on, I was changing them daily because there was so much crud in my water. I had to make sure it was way below the rim to make sure I didn't have the flood problem.
