I have a few of these, come out after lights out. Not sure if they are Sundials or not.
Anyone want to take a stab?

Just looked at two that were on the glass. No cone that I could see. Foot, head, and mouth look like the one Asteria (sp) I have in my tank. Used to have two. They normally are on the glass, live rock, or sand. I have seen them near coral, but never seen them cause damage.
Usually the ones I see on the glass I toss in the dump.

The cone would only be visible when it's foot isn't out. The cone is the operculum, or the cover that protects the foot when it retracts.

I will have to snag one and get it in the light.

Looks a lot like a sundial to me. If you didn't buy it and put it in there, that's likely what it is.

If you're not sure, bring one in to the shop and I'll check it for you.

Jenn,
Yeah I did not put them in my tank, but I did not put the that snail in that I showed you a picture of last week while in the store. So hitchhikers but not sure from what. All of my rock has been in the tank from day 1. Both snails have been in my tank longer than any coral that I have added. I thought they looked like Sundials too, only these ones have light tan markings instead of near black markings on the images of Sundials I have seen online.
I will snag one or two and bring them up to you as soon as I get a chance. They don't seem to be harming anything, and comb the glass just like a Turbo Snail or Astrea snails do. :dunno:
