One month ago (4/13) I picked up a tank from a friend (JimmyStephens). We broke the tank down together when I came to get it... Drained all the water. He bagged up 11 or 12 turbo snails for me that were living in the tank, which have been doing a phenomenal job at keeping my 29 bc spotless while it cycles fishless, and were also probably the reason why the sand was so pristine. It was just clean white sand. Well, I ended up setting up a 40 breeder instead, and that tank sat on the floor in my "living room" until my girlfriend told me I had to get rid of it. The sand had been sitting in the tank. It was damp, you could say it was wet sand, but it was not submerged in water. After I scooped it into a 5g bucket, there was no water in the tank. So there was not an inch or half inch or so of water in 3 inches of sand, just wet sand. Plus, it sat there for a month.
Two days ago I dumped the sand in a tank. I began filling the 20 long and this snail emerges from the sand. I took this video. 20 minutes after I took the video the snail was gone again, and I haven't seen him since. He has to have buried himself in the sand again. So, what kind of snail is this?? He is a survivor, that is for sure.
