I knew you couldn't resist that thread title.
In my office pico reef, I have at least 3 Stomatella snails that were hitchhikers. I look over at the tank a few days ago and I see one of them standing up as if the back of its 'tail' (for lack of a better term) were two feet and shooting a cloud of what looks like milk and microbubbles except they sink instead of float. It was crazy. It kinda looked like it was sneezing. I keep watching and all three of the snails are on the top of the rockwork doing this at the same time. Apparently, after research I find that these snails do this somewhat frequently and it is them shooting both sperm and eggs into the water column simultaneously. I have been kind of keeping an eye on them this week and they have been doing this periodically. What a bizarre little creature.
