Any ideas? Found it while doing a scan of the tank this afternoon. I've never seen any like before.

The thing that's throwing me off is the "whirl". Some stomatella varia types will have the whirl but they really don't have snail shaped shells. Their shell is more like a cap that sits on top. I suspect that this is not a stomatella but can you tell me if it really does have a "full" shell? Is the shell shaped similar to what you can find in the yard or is it just a cap that happens to have a distinct whirl?

Edit: What time of day was this pic taken? I'm curious if it's a sand dwelling snail that happened to be out or if it's active during the day.

Well there goes my long shot. Definitely not a stomatella.
Yeah I'm pretty slick with google and had enough experience with this stuff to knock down the list of usual subjects. I got a few limpets running around in there as is, but no stomatella.

Well there are at least two... I saw both out tonight. They don't like light and move away at well a snails pace when you shine them.

Perhaps Turbo petholatus... but i may have a better ID on the tip of my tongue. The stripes are pretty distinct. I just cant remember the name of that other one. If it comes to me, ill add it here.

My main reason against turbo petholatus is the shollowness of the spiral, which seems closer to margarita snails than turbos.

I think that is probably it, they aren't native to the gulf but there is probably a closely related species and we all know how insanely invaded the ecosystem is with non-natives now anyways. The spiral is pretty thick in person. I could seem turning into this over time. I haven't noticed any predation going on within the tank and they've been in there for a few months now. I guess we'll see what they grow up to be, i'll leave them be for now.
