I made some just now but was just wondering if anyone ever uses them. If they do, how long should I let it cycle? I am thinking the amount involved wouldn't affect the pH especially in a large aquarium, but trying to see if anyone have more experiences?

Why plaster of paris? Just curious...seems like they would deteriorate rather quickly.

There is a discussion on club-zoa about using Sculpe type clays that you can bake in your oven. I keep meaning to try that.

Hmm, am I the only one that is doing this then? Plaster of Paris= Calcium Sulftate aka gypsum. I don't but it hardened like stone, so when you said deteriorate quickly I am a little confuse. I just took a pic (bad quality since it is off my iphone)..It has been soaking in water for an hour.

But anyways, the reason why I did it because you can mold it anyway you want, it is cheap, contain calcium, and quick setting.
