I have the 90 gallon up and running with live sand, 53 pounds of live rock from retailers and another 7 or 8 pounds from my existing tanks. I threw a used filter pad in from another tank two days ago and I still have no ammonia showing. Overall, the system has been running for 5 days, I did have to turn the pump off a few times to fix plumbing problems but the rock has had flow on it continuously with power heads.

Any suggestions to help get the ball rolling?

There should be enough bacteria in the rock to get you going , if wanting to get it going a cocktale shrimp will do the trick , but I'm not entirely sure that's really necessary .
You may be ok to just let it cycle , typically for me with the appropriate amount of rock and sand its about 3 weeks or maybe less when I see diatom algae starting to grow I'm close to there.

IMO you don't need to foul the water. Just let it be, wait for the diatom bloom.
