Sponge?

This yellow thing has slowly started taking over this rock of mushrooms that I picked up at a previous meet up. It’s slimy, which leads me to believe it’s a type of sponge. Just curious if anyone knows more about what this could be, and if it’s good or bad?

Sponge! And a lovely one at that. There's sure to be some competition between the sponge and the shrooms, but it protects won't be too bad. If you don't want to fool with it, I'll gladly take it off your hands...

I’ll frag the shrooms off then and see if I can let the sponge take over. If I’m able to, I’ll give you some of the sponge.
