I noticed he had the spots for a couple of days now. I bought a copperband butterfly a couple of weeks ago, and put him straight into the tank. I know, quarantine, but we did not. He had some sort of rash looking deal on his side and kept scratching at it. I pulled him and started medicating but lost the fight. Now, I am worried about the tang. These look like little black dots, almost like bit marks all over his body. It has not stopped him from eating or slowed him down in the tank. He has started scratching against the rocks.

+1 Sorry looks like an Ick to me. I would try to dip It may take a couple times. It could also bring about more stress just my input far from an expert.

Yes black ich, any other fish showing signs? You may have to treat the entire tank. It is a flatworm, do a search for black ich and the treatment, I can not remember right now.

I have a QT up and running if you need to use it but it is small only 2'. LMK.

Good luck.

thanks for the replies guys. I have a tank set up for quarantine(now). I am having problems catching him. And if it is ich, every thing else in the tank is in trouble. I have a cleaner wrasse that I have been watching today and it has been working on him. I had someone tell me to get a couple cleaner shrimp since he was still very active. If I can't catch him, is that enough? I am also soaking the food in garlic x and vitamin c from brightwell. I have increased feeding to 3 times a day, normally just once a day.

Edit: I have a leopard, potters, melanirus, and cleaner wrasses, the orange shoulder, a gold rim tang, aptisa eating file fish, and a yellow watchman goby. I have seen the gold rim scratching , very little, but I have been watching him closely as well. I can't see any thing on him yet, but who knows.
