Thanks for the quick response Ralph. I guess 95% is good enough.

Edit: I will monitor the one on my candy cane though.

I'm constantly learning from you. I was told they were bad and I pick them out when I see them!
Nice to know I don't have to do that anymore:yes:

I concur with Ralph.

The "bad" Asterinas usually have a little bit of red on them - spots/streaks.

They can become a bit bothersome aesthetically if they reproduce like crazy, but they generally are not harmful (except the ones with red).

So far I have not noticed any with red on them. :fingersx: I will keep an eye out though. Thankks for the great info as always Jenn!

Looks like my RBTA decided to move last night also! Great!

I think your looking for red around the mouth. It would have been obvious by now though if they were the pest variety.

why do you say that? Because they will be eating my corals?

Yup.....for something so small they can do alot of damage pretty quick.

I have those too, Curtis and I havent noticed any coral damage from them. I have given thought to picking uP a harlequin shrimp to keep them in check though.

Curt, Jb gave you the herp!!! I told you to stay away from him.....

Mine got do bad I had to give into my wife and got her that dang puffer. Let's just say he has scaled them back.

You've got the herp...and you used a puffer some how to scale it back...that's sick, dude! I'm calling the humane society, you've got issues.

No, the red on the pest variety is on their backs. They're basically a tan colour but the pesky ones have a bit of red. They might also have some blue. The harmless ones are tan with an occasional bit of faint blue on them.
