It's been a little while since I've run a saltwater tank, but I'm feeling the itch. I'm just debating to go biocube or big (120ish). I could also start with the cube and add a bigger tank later.... What would you guys/gals do?

go with the 120. you'll spend less in the long run and have a tank that will last a lot longer since you won't be thinking (I SHOULD HAVE GONE BIGGER).

+1 on the 120, don't spend money on smaller tank that you could have spent on the larger one. Also the 120 gives you a 24" depth.

my only worry is getting upset by starring at an empty tank. I could not afford to get the 120 setup so quickly, it'd take me a couple months to have it full of water and sand, much less livestock. While the biocube I could get up and running in like 6 weeks or less. (plus a little to put good livestock in it)

I don't want to do like a 55 as I had one before and it's too small to do anything good, but too big to be easy...

I was looking at like a 14g biocube and getting it cheap off craigs list and seeing if I could keep up with it, but I really really want a 120, I just don't know if I can afford to stock it enough to keep me engaged.

You don't see as many people downsizing as you do upsizing. That should tell you something.

Hey Rickey! Glad to see you getting back in. My vote is for a 120. :)

I have a bio cube 29 with gutted hood and stand. 200. I'm upgrading. Can include full black box led also for more$

I'd rather see you get something that over the years, you'll be happy to maintain and afford upkeep as most families assets fluctuate as incomes and expenses. get as big as you think you'll be able to do that, say five, ten years from now?....

I would say do the 120g it may take longer to stock. It may be a while before you get it looking how you want it but it will be easier to maintain once its going.

Half the fun is always adding something new. With a small tank, the fun ends real soon. I know, my 45 is about out of room and it has only been 8 mths. LOL And on top of that I have to listen too "Surely we can add just ONE more fish can't we".

I myself enjoy the smaller tanks it seems like less energy and more reward to me. The idea of a large tank with lots of areas for things to grow sounds nice, but the beauty of a tank filled with coral is more satisfying.
