I was able to pick up a used 29 biocube upgrade on ebay. I have it running but can anyone here tell me about the fan? Does it run all the time or does it kick on and off? So far when I turn it on the fan isnt running. I havent installed it yet so maybe it kicks on after awhile. I have the bluefish mini 2.0 controller. Its a pain to set up but seems to work

Was it hard to find a replacement that actually fit? Also how was the install? I have the same problem

It was actually not hard at all. I ordered a replacement off ebay and it was a direct swap. The hardest part was I ended up buying a led kit for what Im assuming was a different brand biocube 29 than mine. Nothing remotely fit. I ended up cutting everything out of my hood. And then using plastic car interior pop "rivets" tge kind that hold your door skins on to attach the leds to my hood. It turned out really nice and clean. I did have to cut a new intake hole where the new fan sat. But I then glued a pc fan cover on it. The whole thing looks stock but was super easy to do

Nice work man sounds like you did a good job. Now I have the metal halide top that rests over the tank. I wonder if it's a different size fan.. I might order one and try it out. Is the fan loud?

As far as I can tell you ditch your stock fans. My steves led uses a rotary fan from a playstation. Its a sony fan that looks like a hamster wheel. Its not loud but does run 24 7. Im sure I will need to replace it once a year

Just upgraded to the Steves 4 weeks now. Everything's doubled in size as far as being opened up goes. Have some green algae now though. The fan is sorta loud and the controller is confusing but other than that im pretty thrilled with it.

We installed the steve's led kit on our Biocube 32 about 4 weeks ago as well, and the two things about it are 1) it seems to bring up the temp of the water more then the stock lights and 2) I can't seem to figure out how to have 2 settings of lights (ie day and night) as well as have the lights go off at night. So I just went with a single setting at the moment and darkness for the second setting.
