I have a suggestion for a new member sticky!!!

What are the best parameters to keep our tanks at, and how does each affect our systems? I.e., what should calcium and alkalinity be at, and how do they interact? What's the best PH, and what is the affect if the PH goes outside the range? What is the difference between Carbonate Hardness (KH) and Alkalinity (dKH) and how do they affect the system? What is the affect of rapid swings in temperature, salinity, etc. Why shouldn't there be any ammonia or nitrites in an established system? Etc., etc.

I know this is a lot of information, and, unfortunately, I don't have all of the answers to create said sticky (and I hate bringing a problem without a solution, sorry). But if someone has the time and knowledge (and kindness of heart ;)) I know this information would be much appreciated by me and many others!

Or, how about a thread with a link to the information, if someone knows of a site that has all this in one area?

P.s. I'm not sure if I'm using "affect" vs. "effect" correctly, feel free to correct me. :)

Here is a great place to start.

Shows natural seawater levels and recommended ranges for reef tanks. A great calculator for adjustments.

Nice. That is a great reference!

Well, here it is. Mysterybox posted a link in another thread (found here: http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=450982#post450982">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=450982#post450982</a> ).

Here's the link: [IMG]http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php">http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php</a>

MODs, is there any way one of you could post this in a new thread and sticky it under New Member Q&Q?

Either way Loren or someone has a thread that is helpful links or something and I think this would be better suited to be added to that thread.

Well, how about adding this link to that thread? I think it's great information, even if it doesn't deserve its own sticky.
