well, I was inpatient and had to switch around my rock...I have those stinging things and bristleworms and that weird worm. I never felt a sting but if one were to have happened, it's just a sting right? not poisenous right? Also the bristle worms seemed to get pissed and started spraying smoke looking stuff out of their butts. what on earth!

those stinging things = aiptasia?
that weird worm = were you the one who posted the picture of what looked like a grey bristleworm?

I will just say that if a bristleworm got you, the site is going to itch for WEEKS!

I made the mistake of grabbing a ball of chaeto barehanded and ripping it in half and got stung in 3 fingers. By the end of that night, I wanted to cut off those 3 fingers and for weeks afterwards.

I have since learned that you should soak the sting site in vinegar to kill the barbs the worm left in your skin.

Good luck.

uh! i assuming that it isn't a sting, just sore hand from handling rock? i'm paranoid and my brain is a powerful thing. :)
plus all of that stuff coming out of their butt. THAT was weird. me and my son were grossed out.

When I used to (never again after the war I lost with the bristleworms) handle the rocks barehanded, I would frequently get small cuts from the rock. They were always very sore for a few days afterwards.

Now, I always wear gloves when in the tank.

Yeah, there are a few things that can go on.

Shards of rock... bristleworms... welcome to my world.

Once you get used to it, you don't even notice it anymore.

As Rox said... vinegar will dissolve the bristles if you get tagged by a bristleworm.

Usually the worst is some irritation/itching, unless you are allergic - then you'd best call a medical professional...

I've lost count of how many times I've accidentally "petted" a bristleworm.
