So, my door hinges on my cabinet are metal; I found this stuff by Coralife called Salt Creep Eliminator with my freshwater stuff. I tried it about a month ago before the rust started. Being a month later rust is appearing!!! Is there a paint I can brush over the hinges to stop the rust?

take the hinges off, use a little steel wool to rid of the rust and hit them with a coat of rustolium - that should fix it up for you...

there's not really anything that you can do to stop it..
best thing to do is to wipe them clean on a regular basis with a warm damp cloth...

if it's metal.. and it comes into contact with salt water/salt air.. it's gonna rust..

the issue with painting them is that most hinged connections will either not function well or will have the paint flake off in time.. which will then rust..

Thanks guys! I'm going to try the rustolium first before I paint. If I paint I will paint them while they are on the cabinet to keep from altering the door movement.

or replace them with stainless steel....it will eventually rust but not for a loooong time....i have stainless on my stand and all that is rusted after 2 yrs are the nickel screws.....

This works as well as anything will. I use it on an offshore boat with good results.
