Are there any stores in the Auburn, AL area. Columbus or anywhere close would also be ok. I just recently moved to the area and the closest thing I know of is in Newnan, Ga. Thanks

The closest I've seen to there is in Montgomery (though I'm sure something is closer). You might PM weaglereefer. He lives in Auburn. He makes regular trips to ATL for his tank, so that may be a bad omen.

Given I graduated in 2006, so the store may not be there anymore -- but there was a place called Armchair Safari Pet Center on Opelika Road. The store had one tank with coral in it, I think it was a 90g.....but it was all I had to choose from so I went there often.

Aquarium Fantasies is on Atlanta Road in Montgomery. But....I got bad vibes from that store each time I went -- if you listen to the Owner talk for more than five minutes, you'll realize he doesn't know what he's talking about, which made me want to keep my money. The prices were also through the roof, but he had the market all to himself so that's what happens.

My inlaws live right down from there... behind Frazier Methodist Church. I have never, ever EVER seen as much bubble algae under one roof as I did at that place.

I hear ya.

What really made me start to tune him out, was when he told me I was wasting money putting metal halides over a reef tank, when VHO's could do the exact same thing for much less money. Sigh. His thoughts behind proper reef lighting were also the reason why all of his tanks looked pink.

Armchair Safari is LONG GONE. I think the dude moved back to the middle east with his family.

If you swing by before Friday there might be some free frags before the 90 gets broken down and moved to ATL.

petco in auburn and columbus both carry saltwater
one stop in phenix city is good
wett petz in phenix city
there is another new store going to open in phenix city too but not as of yet

I gotta show you a real LFS FNC :( One Stop, at one time, was the best around here but in the last 10 years it has gone to crap. Not a lot left in there for fresh or saltwater. I usually go in there once a week because I live less than 200 yards or so from the store and it lets me just look but never a lot in there. 2-3 corals and 10-12 fish.
The one up on the bypass is a better store, to me, than one stop is.

wett pets is up on the bypass it is the old feathers and friends from columbus after the state of georgia shut them down for violations they moved across the river to alabama

I actually wondered why they moved and thought it would have been lower rent. He had a little better selection at the time but didn't seem to know a lot about tanks. I tried to get him to order me a 33 long and he informed me they didn't make a 33 gallon tank. I told him where to get it from and he still wouldn't order it. I was trying to do some business with him but he didn't seem interested. I want to try the new one thats opening on 431 South (I think thats where it is) and see what it is. I am going to Jax in a few days though. Have to stop in Bio-Reef again :D
