I've had a blue throat trigger for about 4 months and all of the sudden he is hiding in the rockwork all the way in the back of the tank. he used to eat out of my hands and now he won't even come out. I haven't seen any of the other fish picking on him either so I'm getting pretty confused. I've tried garlic and it didn't seem to help. If anybody has any ideas thanks a lot.

thanks

They will do things like that if they are infected or infested with something. Do you have any other fish with signs of "ich" (crypt).......white spots? Either way, stress is the most likely culprit for such a drastic change in behavior........but you probably already suspected that.

Years ago, I had a niger trigger that would hide like that each time he broke out with crypt. Took me awhile to figure it out, because the other fish tolerated it better.....until it eventually started killing them off as they succumbed. I sure am glad those days are over.

Check your tank for stray voltage if there's no other obvious stressor. It can inspire weird behavior.
