I just got a GBTA and put him on a rock about where I'd like it to stay. The flow and light in that position should be good. I'm thinking about strapping it down (loosely) with some netting to let it acclimate in that spot and hopefully keep it from moving to somewhere I don't want it to go. It's about 3" across. Any thoughts?

i'm no exert but that doesnt sound like a very good idea to me

he will move one way or the other no matter how long you strap him. They dont like our spots lol

don't do it. Before purchase it should be understood that a nem will go where it wants and there is nothing you can do about it. Just leave it be if It doesnt stay just watch it and make sure it isn't going for a powerhead. They love em for some reason. It will find its own spot to be happy.

How are you going to stap him, right over the center? Thats going to block his mouth, you won't be able to feed him. They can shrink way down so I don't think a loose strap would work. He would just shrink and get out of it.

You can do what you want but I seriously don't think it will work. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I was thinking of using some of the 1/4" mesh I have left over from making mesh tops, and tying it down to the rock with some fishing line. It would be like a canopy so the nem couldn't go anywhere, but it wouldn't be something that would exert pressure on the nem and potentially cut into it.

Just leave it be and do it's own thing sorry to tell you that. It will do more harm than good trying to strap it etc.

I would think at some point you wouldn't want to look at it with mesh on it. At that point it's going to move where ever it wants anyway.

dont strap it down.

put it in good light with decent flow so it doesn't get blown around while it isn't attached
