Build thread. YEEAh!!!!

Thanks to photongreen for trading some corals for the new tank. The tank is a stock Oceanic 8 gallon. 2 x 18watt PC, 10K and 460ish. Also the tank comes with 2 LED moon lights. As you will see I added a few more LEDs that I had laying around. The plan is within the next 4-6 months, before the next bulb change, to go all LED.:yay: Stock-wise I am thinking a Flaming Prawn Goby or a pair and various corals from the main tank.

Please feel free to make any suggestions and/or share your thoughts.

Anyways on the photos......

This pic is after clean-up, and a little inspection of the tank takes place by my main helper....

Sounds like a good plan for the tank. As you already know, the Flaming Prawn Gobies are incredible looking little fish but they do tend to hide. I had the best luck when I kept them alone with 4 or 5 Sexy Anemone Shrimps. You could also add a couple of dwarf seahorses .. that would be an awesome tank. My FPG's loved newly hatched brine shrimp (as well as adult shrimp) which they would come out to hunt. May be breaking down the 55G eventually so mine may be up for sale at some point.. I will keep you posted!

That is my plan with this tank, just the one or maybe two gobies. Maybe some sexy anemone shrimp and some softies to start off. I'll keep that in mind about the live brine. Hopefully they will be very active since there won't be any other fish. If you part with yours, let me know and we can go from there. Thanks for the advice as always.

Edit: This tank has an overflow up top on the side as well as one on the bottom. I don't want any sand in the back portion of the tank behind the false wall so I am going to cover the bottom slits with a small piece of acrylic. Also I hoping this results in more turnover from the one overflow.
Here is a pic of the acrylic just cut.

Yeah I had some time to get it up and running and start cycling.
Nice meeting you.

Edit: Here is a pic of acrylic installed.

I keeping looking at the pics before posting and I am just noticing all the little feet in the edges of the pics, I had lots of help.

Edit: This pic shows the LEDs where they will go. I am going to have to modify the reflector and slide the current moon lights an inch further to the sides.

Edit: Everything spread out about to start the mod, notice two sets of helpers this time.

Cool!! I wanted a flaming prawn goby for so long.... They come in "season" round december. They are pretty cool fish. I hear they are more active with more of the same kind and are not aggresive towards each other. Im sure you know this though beacuse you mentioned getting two :) It would be awesome.

I love your rock scape. lots of potiential as a reef :)

Peachy, thank you for the kind words. Yes, the plan is to get one to start unless Bobz parts with his pair, (fingers crossed), and make sure all goes well before buying the second. It will be the most expensive fish I own so I want to make sure all is well before doubling my cost. As mentioned though if the price is right for Bobzs' pair then I will go for that initially. They look like really cool fish, and I want them to HUNT for brine as Bobz was tellig me they do. So excited just can't wait to get the fish. It makes me want to put something in the tank just to do it. I have no patience sometimes.......

The other day I got a great deal on a pair of really small flaming prawn gobies, Thank you Greg at Optimum Aquarium!! Here are some pics, but the fish are really small so they maybe hard to see. Also I added some Live rock and some astrea, and cerith snails. The gobies have been eating cyclopeeze daily for now due to their size, hoping to get them on some brine soon. The 3rd pic shows both the fish. These guys are really cool to watch. Soon I hope to add some corals once the fish get some size to them. Thanks for looking.

Sorry for the pics all going towards the right of the screen, vertical alignment was the intention.

I cannot wait for these guys to get some size, better pics to come.
