Sucked up

After a month of love and good memories, the smaller of my harlequin shrimp pair was sucked up by my aquaclear. I thik he must have jumped right on it, because nothing else in the tank had trouble with it. But now is the time for hope and change, any suggestions as to how I can prevent another tragic death ?

What is an aquaclear? A powerhead? A prefilter or foam cover helps a lot.

I need to get a harlequin shrimp. I have a butt ton of those asterina starfish. Or maybe I should somehow harvest them for someone.

I would say that was a 1 in a million accident, but maybe you could get a prefilter for it. I bet this on ewould work:

ya, I've thought my emerald crab died like 3 or 4 times.. then I see him a week later with a bright green new shell

That might be the case, but the shell just seems way too much like the ittle guy's and there looks like they're some meat/flesh/whatever on it too. I'll keep an eye out.

I've been tricked by molts before too! they look identical to the shrimp. I don't know how many times I've looked at my tank and thought I lost one of my shrimp only to find it later.

How bad can it be? Can introducing them to a system have any negative drawbacks. I want to add a harl. shrimp to my main tank soon.
