Sump clean out

I'm going clean out my sump tonight got 10 months of a detritus build up, was going to soak my pumps in vinegar water, was wondering if I need to clean the sump with vinegar water or just rinse out the detritus. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I use a small shop vac to clean the sump out. It seems to be the best method I have found

Just vacuum out the sump. As for vinegar and pump motors...be careful. Vinegar IS an acid and will destroy the epoxy on a submersible motor.

We just use a shop vac. Works very well and it's quick and easy. Never liked the vinegar for the reason Jeff mentioned. I just open up the pump and use a soft bristle tooth brush to clean it out.
