Sump Question?

About two weeks ago I removed the sponges from my sump and put on a sock. I added some live rock and chaeto with a light thats comes on from 11pm to 7am. I have noticed inside on lower level and middle level of my skimmer I have red algea growing on the light side. I am surprise that this is growing with how fast the water is moving in the skimmer. My question is this normal and OK? Thanks
