i just wanted to know who has done them and how bigger than their display tank should it be like lets say a 210gallon display should the sump be bigger than the 210 and how much bigger would it be reccomended and how would you calculate skimmers, calciumreactors, and all the other stuff for these types of tanks?

Check with Todd(Washowi),Simon Kruger,or Mfinch99.

As far as how big it SHOULD be,well it should be as big as you have room for IMO.There is really no limit to what you can do or how much you can spend. So just start with how much $$$ you want to spend on a sump then call a few places and get some quotes.

yeah , the bigger the sump the better....quote "dillution is the solution."

Although the tank looks different these days you can get an idea of how big i went.

500 Gallon sump on a 92 Gallon Corner.

I also have a 12 Gallon NanoCube plumbed in on the same system.

lol!! hey you did pick one up...do i still need to get one for you?? was gonna go to pick it up friday?? i can believe you got it to fit...!!! smart thinking,,

p.s i run a large sump - 50 galls, a refugium of 120 galls and a frag tank of 120 galls..my main display is 300 galls.. you would calculate for equipment as the total sum of water in the system ...ie mine would be 590 gallons ,,,probably a little more considering the 60 foot run of 2 inch pipe under the crawl space...

When my setup is complete I will be running a 150 gallon sump on either a 120g or 127g tank. I am building a fish utility room in my basement under the staircase. The tank will be plumbed directly above it. You can see a picture of the room in my tank build thread. http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5193">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5193</a>
