Super Reef Octopus overflowing

I have a Super Reef Octopus 3000 internal skimmer in my sump which I shut down for several days. Now that it's back up and running it's producing too much foam. The foam is coming out of the top of the cup and overflowing. It's been like this for two days now. The gate valve is all the way open, and I haven't changed the set up at all. When I look into the chamber the circular flow doesn't appear as prominent as it was. In any case, has this happened to you, and how do you fix it?

For the time....lift the skimmer out of the water about an inch or two. That may fix the overflow problem.

Change of filter socks or epoxy does that with the bubble blaster ran Octo skimmers.
