Free corals from members, free raffle tickets at all meetings and club events, access to the clubs rental gear, discounts from local sponsers and contests. I am sure I am forgetting something. I know many many people who have signed up and received their money back at the first meeting they went to (in terms of raffles or free coral).
I think you will also find that the amount of information and support that can be resourced here is invaluable with regards to the hobby. Supporting a club like this and ensuring they thrive is well worth the $ when you get such a great community in return

The cost of becoming a supporting member is well worth it when it comes to return on investment. When you go to a LFS as much as most of us do the discount on livestock pays for the membership in short order. You can then look at the monthly meeting/photo contest giveaways, Christmas party and Reef Expo which are free to supporting members as bang for your buck.
oh yeah I forgot about the free entrance to the expo for supporting members. That was the reason I signed up and it paid for itself that day.
Is there a list of LFS that provide discounts? I had forgotten about that after I signed up. I have only gone to 2 in the area, Purereef and Atlanta Aquarium.
If you look at the main forum page here on ARC, towards the bottom is the "Sponsor" section with a list of our sponsors.
You may have to ask at each store, in my experience they all handle it a little differently

I have received the supporting members discount at each sponsors LFS that I have visited which include Pure Reef, The Fish Store, Premier Aquatics, Southern Aquatics, Classic City Aquarium, Optimum Aquarium and Creation Reef and Aquatics .

From your phone tap on the three lines at the upper left hand corner...that will pull up a menu that looks like this...
Then tap on become a member and walk through those steps.
