Like to know what meter, what conditions, how far from the bulb, measured through air or water, etc. Doesn't seem to provide anything other than numbers.

See, I can make up stuff too...

Grim is a guru on t5. Chances r he is right on. These were taken from an ati pm at 2 ft I think. To me the number isn't as important as the differences in the numbers. Unless ur running a power module you won't get this much par anyway, but the numerical ratios between the different lamps are what is important.

Yeah, but I think someone who is a "guru" on something should know to post supporting info. I used this info when I had my T5 fixture to get bulbs (back when I was a noob before ARC) and was happy with my results, but wouldn't trust that info more than anything else I found on the interweb.

I said I did use this for T5's, but looking back, it's no more informative than Joe Schmo posting his numbers on RC. I really just want to understand where the numbers come from.

I don't have anything to defend;). The fixture used is in the FIRST sentance on the page. I'm sure the rest of the info is somewhere.

Even so though shouldn't the results be able to show which lamp has more par and which has the least, regardless of what the exact numbers are, whether it's under water or not, and so forth?

I just got this from the guy who did the tests.

Test done on fixtures were over my tank. The sensor was approximately 17" below the water surface and the fixtures about 2 1/2" above.

Lamps are tested right at the lamp using an isolation collar I made from grey PVC. Reflectors were taken in air about 20 inches away. I use a Apogee QMSS meter.

With the exception of the fixtures all my readings are comparative meaning I am just doing head to head tests at the time rather than attempting to create a lab experiment that would allow me to bank the numbers. Too many variable involved for me to go to that extent without getting paid for it. I'll leave that to the guys who get paid for articles and personal appearances. This is just a hobby for me.
