ok so last week I posted a thread that ask how all of the successful tang owners have more than 1 tang in their tanks. So i tried twice and failed. lost 2 tangs a Yellow and sailfin before the post. So I studied a little more and used the advice from others . I have a 4 in Pacific sailfin that I love, but after adding a Blonde naso Tang today it seems inevitable that I will have to add 2 tangs at the same time to be successful? But I have not given up yet!! today I added a 2-1/2 in Naso Tang after I had a 2 pics of larger Naso's taped to the glass for the last 2 days. plus the mirror trick at the end of my 160 5ft tank. well I introduced the fish in a dusk atmosphere. The sailfin would just swim around the new addition and pretty much ignore it. And kind of bump the glass at her mirror reflection. So after 4 hrs later I cut on the deep blue T5's and then the Sailfin seemed to be more aggressive toward the Naso, so i cut the lights back off asap. So the verdict is still out, maybe it will get better. IF Not i am DMN determined I will have 2 tangs in this tank if i have to visit one of our sponsors and pay top dollar for 2 tangs in the same DT that gets along at the store!! Yep , I'm disappointed and mad at the Tangs and Myself at the moment . :cussing:

I have a purple and a powder tang together for over two years. This sounds silly... And you may have heard it before... But it works. Tape pictures of these fish on your tank. After two days start taking the pictures down. By the third day the agression should be gone.

YMMV... But it worked for me.

Thanks Floyd , but I already have had these new fish pics up for 2 days and today added the new fish??

Guess I should have paid a little more attention to your post!

Give it more time, and keep limiting the lights. Keep us informed on how they are doing.

Post up pictues of the existing dominant tang which is the sailfin. The naso is the one that is new and just getting used to his surroundings. He is also the more docile of the 2

Thanks guys, my camera LED went south on me last week , so if i take pics they contain alot of lines. The Naso is a juvenile. 2-1/2" long the Sailfin is 4" She is btw a Pacific not a Red sea.

You need a lot of pictures, not just 2. I would suggest around 10-12. Your tank is going to look ugly with pictures all over it but that is the price you have to pay for Tangs. The more the merrier and of all different types. The purpose of this is to confuse them. I downloaded from the web and just printed it out on my photo printer (4x6). I would save them once take them down because I know eventually in would add another tang.

Thanks Gorilla, this morning my Naso is in her hiding place when i turned on the low light blues on. The sailfin is busy eating nd looking at herself in the mirror and the other 2 Naso pics. I fed the tank and the NASO is NOT eating, i seen some food go right by her mouth and she did not eat. Hoping that will change soon. i will add more pics

Good News , NO MORE AGGRESSION. my beautiful Sailfin has finally excepted the new Naso. had me worried yesterday. still only have 2 pics of Naso 's and Mirror on the other end of the tank. my Sailfin has gotten a lil aggressive towards her on image and now has excepted that no fish in her Tank is a threat to her territory. Thanks for the replies.:yay::up:
