Is there a tang I could put in my 14 gallon now and then as it gets bigger transplant it? I am going to a 93 cube in 6 months but I wanted a baby tang now. My tank is mostly sps and zoas and only a clown gobie for fish. If its a bad idea I will wait. I just wanted some opinions.

A lot of stores get in the Regal tangs small enough for your tank, but if you waited anymore than 6 months it would be too big.

Those baby regal tangs have a very low survival rate, but that would be your best bet!

I have seen small regals before. I saw a tamoni sp. The size of a quarter a couple of days ago.

In my 28G Nano cube I have two tangs. They are half dollar size once they get bigger Ill sell them. I would get a baby size tang and you should be okay.

I wouldn't recommend it. Tangs that small should be fed more often as they are growing quickly, and just keeping up water quality will be a challenge if you're going to feed them according to their needs. The super tiny blue tangs can be very fragile.

My suggestion would be to wait until you have the more suitable tank up and running and get a little bit larger specimen.

Remotely related - I had one of those quarter-sized regals in my 210. After a couple of weeks, it disappeared. 4 months later when I tore down the tank, I found him alive and well in the overflow chamber, bigger and healthy. Surprised me.
