So i have an orange shoulder tang and have had him for over a year. He use to be thick and healthy, always the first to eat. Well i havent paid as close attention lately to the tank but still keeping up maintenance and feedings and whatnot, and noticed the other day he was super skinny. I found this weird because he never stopped eating until today. Now he swims in place and did not eat anything. He seems to have lost his color too, he is a canary yellow still but is turning white but it doesnt look like its anything bacterial or fungal or parasites or anything. all other corals and fish are fine. One weird thing was he use to eat sand and poop pure sand back out. Im thinking he might have something in his system because he stomach seems to always be full and bloated. Any thoughts.

Sounds like an internal parasite or something. When was the last new fish addition? Could have introduced a nasty. I have an orange shoulder tang (for 2.5 years) and he always eats sand, they use it to help grind up the algae matter they eat.

Like i said ive had hime for a year and just these past couple weeks is when ive noticed the change.

Well sad to say my fave fish died. That was super quick. eating yesterday belly up today. Hard to find a replacement for this guy,

Oh, man. I'm so sorry to hear that. It kills me to lose anything -- can't imagine when you've actually developed an attachment to it.
