Hey guys i need a answer on this i need to keep my 55 set up for later purposes so i dont want to destroy the bacteria in the sand bed that is still in it, But i need to run everything minimal in that tank so can the bacteria in the sand bed survive without heat, tank would be at room temp (i guess) my room normally stays at 70-75...Reason i am doing this is because the light bill was over $700 lol i have already gotthe tank down to a hang on bank filter a few water movers (2) no lighting as no fish in it and the heater. I know the heater does not use much power but every little bit counts at the moment. And everyone in the house is doing the same. Now my reef tank is not being touched everything is running smooth on it.

Cool thanks rb if i get a few more people i will go ahead and unplug it. Thanks for your answer.

sorry about the periods. I have a bad habit of just typing. And Thanks for your answer on the bacteria i will be shutting that heater off now. Its not just the tank on the light bill its a pool, hot tub, welding machine and all the other small stuff throught the house causing the bill to increase. We are all just cutting back were ever we can at the moment. I know my tank dont use much power, but its just one of the few spots i am cutting back. Thanks for your answer tho.
