i don't know if many have caught the new TV show Tanked (on Animal Planet i believe).
However, it is the firest TV show devoted to our hobby.
To date, they have focused on fish tanks (which is a good start). and they focus on the wild tanks that they create for customers that can spend big bucks.
However, it is a start.
I sent them an email congratulating them on educating the public and focusing on fishtanks (which are easier than reef tanks) and asked about reefs and the "insides" of how they were setting up their tanks.
I got a "real" response within an hour stating that they were going to focus more on reefs and the "insides" in upcoming episodes.
It was nice to get a live response and know that they were aware and helping the cause. They have question and answer sessions and talk a lot about buying compatable species and the like. It is a good start.
I think that we should view this as a plus and help support any who are helping to further our hobby and bring it into the mainstream.
