whats up, i was wounderin where everyone finds the around 100 gallon tanks for holdin water, thanks for the input!

I got my ro/di unit mounted up. All I need is a t or y garden hose fitting. So yeah we def need water storage container info asap!

I got a really nice holding tank at Tractor Supply. Mine is only 50 gallons but they had a number of different sizes and styles. It has a large threaded cap for access and a threaded outlet that I put a hose bib on. I found what I was looking for on their website and called around to find it in stock locally. It's worked well for 3+ years now.

I use the 44 gal rubbermaid trash cans for storage and salt water make up. I use the one with the wheels for the salt makeup.

Do you stir/circulate your RO water?
I've had RO water start to have an odor after a couple days of just sitting (covered in a cool environment)

I've never had any issue with RO water smelling. I keep it covered in my basement so it is kept cool. It CAN hold 50 gal. but I usually don't keep that much. I make enough to last for a week or two of top offs and as needed for mixing salt. Like roundman I fill up a Rubbermaid to mix water change salt water. This is how I've been doing it for a while and haven't have any issues yet that I'm aware of.

weird... I've tested the RO with a TDS meter and a refractometer, it's 0.0 on both..

not sure why it would smell after a couple days... (you know the smell.. like laundry sitting in the washing machine for 4 hours after it's been cleaned..)

definitely not a chlorine smell... I'd prefer not to add anything to the water, but I guess that prime wouldn't hurt... Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Here is where I got mine:

I got 2 165gal tanks, one for water changes and one for top-off water. I have a panworld 150 plumben into them. Made my life much easier.

Yea, you will get that smell. I do so i got a powerhead in there moving that water around.. I keep about 50g of freshwater made up at all times and have about 30-40g of saltwater mixed up for emergencies. both have powerheads moving the water. after adding it, smell went away..

It's definately not chlorine...that's what the RO removes (among many other things). I wouldn't add anything to it. I would recommend that you keep it circulated for oxygenation. This will keep the smell from occurring.

I just purchased a 55gal model with gallon marks and sump access for a little over $100.. this weekend that thing will be cleaned and I'm going to relocate my RODI so that I can just start storing larger quantities of clean water..

similar to this without the stand... (that, I can make)
