So i currently upgraded to a tek 5 48" set up and the bulbs are well over a year old. I am planning on setting up a fowlr tank first then add some SPS's, etc...I just was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my four bulb types (day 10k, actnic ?) Thanks....

T5 lamps are hard to recommend without more info....like what color are you looking to achieve? What size tank? SPS may be tricky with a four lamp setup depending on your tank dimensions...

Are you planning reef fish or aggressive?

Well honestly, i know nothing about lights besides whats in my cube..I would assume a light blue color. The tank is a 72 bowfront and i plan to go with reef safe fish...

Well here is my recommendation:

1. ATI Aquablue
2. Geisemann or UVL Super Actinic
3. ATI Blue+
4. ATI Aquablue

If you want to see what these lamps look like check out my build thread on page 3 Post #60. The link to my build thread is in my post at the bottom...

Thanks and you think that might be ok for atleast LPS? and what brand and where do you recommend pikcing those up? offline?

excuse my typing as i am an analyst and my boss sits behind me so im not suppose to be on forums so im trying to respond quite fast...thanks

ReefGeek.com or there are several sponsors local (Keen Reef for one) That carry these lamps...save on shipping and get the ARC discount to boot if you sign up...

Yes I think they will be fine with LPS and some SPS, trick is placement of the corals. When the time comes to buy corals start a new thread and we can help you make some decisions...

Hard to buy fish with no job!!! Get to work, lol.

Ha, thanks for all the help james and i took a look at your set up, love the lights and the overall tank is absolutely amazing...ill make sure post a thread when i get ready to place the coral

On my 72 I use 2-ATI actinic and 2-ATI 1400k and have many different corals. I have found those that need more light place closer to the surface and those that require less put on the bottom or somewhere in between. I also ave a small clam that is doing great with these lights. The light fixture is about 2" from the surface of the water. At first I had 2 10000k bulbs and changed to 14000k. The 14000k made a big difference. This is just my experience. Hope this helps.
