Ok... so I bought some coral from GARF. This was a combo pack, eight frags with two or more corals attached. Only problem... I don't know what I have. Pictures are below. Test your coral knowledge and help me with identification.

1. Mushroom (Rhodactis, my guess)

2. Zoanthids

3. Xenia

4. Xenia

5. Montipora capricornis perhaps? Hard to see - judging by the shape.

6. Isn't pointing to anything I can see.

7. Xenia or possibly Anthelia (can't see the stalks)

8. Can't see well enough

9 & 10 Palythoa

11. Gorgonian

12. Zoanthids

13. Duncan I think

14. Can't tell

15 & 16. Mushrooms - Rhodactis sp.

17. Gorgonian

18. Can't see

19. Mushroom - Rhodactis or Discosoma

20. Dunno but it looks interesting :)

21. Zoanthids

22. Zoas or Palys

Well I could be wrong on some of them too - so feel free to correct me if you think I've made an error or three.

What's odd is why they'd put more than one specie on the same piece of substrate. I can see that Monti getting nuked by the Xenia sooner or later.

Ditto with the zoanthids choking out whatever shares its substrate.

Odd.

That's what I saw too. Like maybe something was attached to it at some point, but not anymore, and the "craters" are "scars" on the substrate where something once was?

I'm also thinking 20 might be some sort of gorgonian as well.

Could be... some things broke off in transport.

I'll get some better pictures up of the things in question.

Yep, 22 is POed... I had to empale it with a toothpick (ouch) to keep in in place. But 4 or 5 of the polyps were open earlier this evening.

Its not like any aptasia I've seen. It's flat, firm, feels leathery, and has about 20 polyps that are green when open.
